Cons: not for medical professionals but helps to establish phrasing/wording in communication with English-speaking patients.Pros: very helpful visual guide to review and systematization/consolidation clinical symptoms to syndromes/nosology during prep to exam and med. practice in US medicine settings; very high quality of pictures, colors, paper. Lots of spaces to add your own notes; very affordable price;;Personally, I used this book as a sort of anatomical map/atlas to write my own notes related to symptoms by localization. Very recommend to buy and use it for medical students/residents/IMG 2CS-test-takers!
As someone going into medical coding and billing (working on my certificate right now) and also on my degree for medical assisting, This, I needed this, especially for coding. Knowing signs and symptoms is incredibly important in order to assign the right code for the service provided.
I love the simplicity and ease of the book showing the target areas of the body with the associated symptoms in that particular area and what could be the likely causes. Very simple and easy to use. I would definitely recommend it.

The last 1/3 of the book - a directory of medical conditions - is well done. Unfortunately, the first 2/3 of the book is marred by the ineffective use of color in the illustrations. Instead of using color to highlight anatomical features (as is done in the directory), the illustrator just uses a blob of color to highlight certain regions, which actually obscures the anatomy rather than clarifies it. I gave the book 4 stars for effort, nevertheless. Given the vast number of ailments to which humans are subject, it's not clear what criteria were used to decide what was included in the book.
