About the Author
Walt F.J. Goodridge is a Columbia University graduate, former civil engineer, author and entrepreneur who, in 2006, "discovered" Saipan, booked a one-way ticket, and escaped from New York to live out his "nomadpreneur" dream life on this Pacific island paradise. He has written Doing Business on Saipan to encourage entrepreneurial activity and investment on the island. The information contained in this book is helpful and informative. However, the grammar, punctuation, and formatting of the book is horrendous! This despite the author priding himself on being a Columbia University graduate. The book is essentially the author copying/pasting information from his website, as well as emails he and his staff received and responded to. Again, the information is helpful but the author should have spent time cleaning up sloppy emails riddled with typos before copying/pasting them into the book. The most frequently cited source is also Wikipedia, calling into question all sorts of validity. In sum, I feel the author should have spent more time producing a quality piece of writing before charging $20 per book.
The book is a bit outdated. I spent three months on Saipan, July-September, 2015, and much has been added to Garapan, south. Very nice photography.
I may never make it to Saipan, but if I do then this is a useful guide about what to look for and what to avoid. It's less detailed and more anecdotal that typical travel guides, but I like the author's style and it was a fun read.

good book!
I have been to Saipan a number of times. We have even considered moving there. This is a very quick read which is...well, really bad. Seems like a compilation of columns that was never edited. The Kindle version does not at all. I was very upset by the overall sloppiness of the layout. I wanted real information.
