This is a wonderful, detailed, and easy to navigate and implement overview of verbal behavior for parents, caregivers, teachers, SLPs, and new ABA practitioners seeking an introduction to ABA VB. I am a parent of a child with autism and a BCBA and appreciated the synthesis of behavioral science with practical application and every day terminology and concepts that would empower and appeal to someone not well versed in ABA, but seeking an evidence based approach to help their child. It is also compelling as the author shares personal anecdotes of her own journey using ABA VB with her son. I recommend this book highly.

Thank you for this book. In this new world of autism my family has entered, with so many unfamiliar terms and suggestions, this book has really helped me to make some sense of what our son needs and the therapy he is receiving. Im better able now to make relevant steps in administering his home therapy and helping him throughout the day.

I am a BCBA who works in schools. I read this book for the first time this past spring and was so thrilled with the high-quality information presented in such an accessible way that I had my school district purchase a copy for all of our special education staff (teachers, paras, SLPs, and even some parents) so that we may all read it and collaborate about implementation together. It is a fantastic book and we are using it to introduce our new behavioral technicians and registered behavior technicians to the way we do therapy at our center.We are giving a copy to the parents of our little clients because it is written in such a way that a parent can understand how to use these techniques at home.

This book is amazing! I'm a special education teacher and the explanations, examples, and strategies described in this book are easy to follow if you're a beginning special ed teacher, support service or parent with a child with disabilities. This book does focus on Autism, based on my experience and according to the author, can be applied to other developmental delays and intellectual disabilities.

I'm currently a grad student studying Applied Behavior Analysis, and I bought the book for a class I was taking, as a required text. But I have found it very useful outside of the classroom as well. The book is written from a parent's perspective, so it describes behavior analysis from that perspective, and uses a lot of lay terms to help the reader understand the concepts. I have even recommended it to parents of children trying to get help with their children that they believe may have autism.

I really enjoy this book. Easily read and understood with the process it was written and helps gain insight to the communication of non-verbal children. Originally checked it out at the library, but after reading it, knew it would be handy to have for any reinforcement or reminder of how to beat serve 'non-verbal' children. Have recommended it several times to others in the DDA field.

In preparation for and during a trip to the Upper Midwest, I read this and other Olson collections. Readers who expect a linear exegesis of the Canadian wilderness will be disappointed, since Olson did very little in a linear way. Rather, this is an impressionistic and rambling journey through Olson's experiences north and south of the border. He evokes the world of loons and lakes as no one else can; however, the reader can't help but come away with the impression that he found muskeg and tundra far less interesting, and certainly less visually stunning, than his beloved Quetico-Superior wilderness. There's almost nothing here on people, customs, or other aspects of life in the far Northwest; instead, you're just spending some hours, or days, with Siggy and his Kalevalistic prose. This isn't bad -- in fact, it's pleasurable -- but readers should be aware that the description of this book on Amazon is not the book you will actually read.

One of my all-time favorite authors who writes about his experience as a ranger in border country of the Superior National Forest Wilderness (called Quetico Superior then). His style is so lyrical I've used his books to read aloud to seniors in nursing homes who can't go outside anymore. Another of his books that paints a clear picture and records all the aspects of nature for the reader is The Singing Wilderness. A well-crafted read, immersing you in the spiritual beauty and peace of Nature.

Made to read slowly and savor

We have been to Northern Minnesota, where this author has written several books. When you read them, they truly take you to the woods and the lakes of this beautiful area. I am sure that anyone will enjoy reading them but especially if you have had the opportunity to visit this wonderful and untouched area.

Delightful.

Interesting read, however each chapter is kinda a book of its own. I especially enjoyed the chapter on "Wild Rice"It's my first read of a book by Sigurd Olson.Will read more in the future.

The best Boundary Waters/Quetico author.... a true land of beauty, mystique, Olson captures this spirit. Worth collecting. Go there, he'll be as good or better than all your pictures come winter.

I love cookbooks and the authors Modern Jewish cooking cookbook is a favorite of mine - her recipes always come out great! I decided to try this one and add it to my collection. It’s very small but filled with great recipes. There are even a good number of vegetarian main dishes.

Easy to follow the recipes and some delicious results.

It is a rare thing for me to find a cookbook where I want to try virtually every recipe in the book and I'm making good inroads on cooking my way through it. The Little Book of Jewish Feasts is exactly such a book! Containing just 25 recipes, this little volume is worth its weight in gold!Traditional Jewish recipes, even if you aren't Jewish, are ideal for the sort of mixed diet family we see so often today. Because Jews are prohibited from consuming milk and meat in the same dish (most Orthodox won't even eat these on the same day) you'll find a nice selection of vegetarian recipe as well as some very special meat dishes. Let me tell you about three of my favorites:▶︎ Kousa b'Jibn (Crustless Zucchini Quiche) - 5 stars!Easy to make and lovely both warm and at room temperature, this rich egg/cheese/zucchini dish is downright yummy. This will take about 30 minutes prep time (mostly sautéing zucchini to remove all the excess water) and another 35 minutes or so in the oven but it is an ideal makeahead, perfect for brunch, a picnic or cut into small portions, even suitable as a nibble at your next party. Bonus points: A great way to use up some of that excess zucchini from your garden!▶︎ T'fina Pakaila (White Bean and Meatball Stew) - 10 stars out of 5!These are the BEST meatballs I've ever tried, and I make some pretty mean meatballs. The recipe does call for a pound of beef flanken or short ribs in addition to the ground beef used for the meatballs, but frankly next time I make this I may very well double the meatballs and leave out the short ribs. White beans & spinach (you could also use chard) make this a full meal in a pot. Just add some bread. Inexpensive and quick, this dish will easily serve 6 hungry people in just under an hour.▶︎ Pollo Fritto per Hanukkah (Fried Chicken for Hanukkah) - 4 StarsI'm the daughter of a Southern girl known far and wide for her fried chicken, so I am very particular about my friend chicken. My Mama made her's North Carolina style - skinless, shallow fried without the heavy egg breading. This fried chicken retains the skin and features a luscious egg breading that crisps up to the nines in the deep fryer. Two notes: You will not be able to fit all of the chicken into the pan at once but will need to cook it in 2 or 3 batches. Keep the cooked chicken warm in a 250F oven on a rack placed over a baking tray. (Don't just line the tray with paper towels - the coating will go soggy.)▶︎ Grandma's $0.02 - A great addition to your library that won't take up a ton of room on your cookbook shelf, the Little Book of Jewish Feasts will get a lot of use. I can't wait to see the other books in the series!Highly recommended

The recipes are divided into two sections: vegetarian/fish, and chicken/beef/lamb -- 25 in all.The recipes are "meticulously curated," promises the description on the verso page -- because Leah Koenig is an investigative cook, tracking down not only the recipes but the culture/history behind them.The photographs, by Linda Pugliese, talented food and travel photographer, place the food against slate backgrounds. They make you want to put on a apron and immediately recreate those dishes. The colours are much brighter on her website on my computer screen, so you might want to view them online as well.What a great shower gift!

This is such a gorgeous little book!The recipes are lovely. Though we've only tried a couple so far, they were delicious!The book is chock full of photos guaranteed to whet your appetite.But for me, the best part of the book was that each recipe includes cultural notes. The recipes are global and feature Jewish cuisine from all over the world. Whether your background is Moroccan, Greek, Italian, Sephardic, or just plain old American, there are recipes which encompass your favorite ingredients, spices, and traditions.This little book is a treasure!*ARC Provided via Net Galley

This book, as well as the Little Book of Jewish Appetizers, makes a great gift. And every recipe in it will be become a regular at your holiday meals. The short introductions to the dishes give a wonderful sense of their holiday and regional origins.
